MCAT - Medical Entry TestMCAT (Medical College Admission Test) is designed to assess an aspirants ability for knowledge of scientific concepts and principles necessary for the study of medicine. All Medical colleges in Pakistan consider MCAT scores as a vital part of their decision making process for admission to Medical School. The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) is a paper-based, multiple-choice examination used by medical school admissions officials to predict future success. Medical Colleges in Pakistan
Condition for Admission in MBBS / BDS
All applicants for the admission in any medical college/university in Pakistan must qualify medical entry test. It is expected that those taking the test will have the equivalent of two year of college study in each of the scientific areas: biology, chemistry, and physics. Although advanced study in one or more of this discipline may give a better understanding of concepts, it is not indented that the questions will require knowledge of concepts not taught in basic courses.
All provinces of Pakistan conduct their own entry tests for the admissions in public and private medical colleges and universities of the province.
MCAT Format
MCAT is basically a subject test. It contributes subjects like Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and English. The number of questions and weight of the test and sections vary considerably. MCAT is meant only for serious students aspiring to gain admission to the best Medical Colleges. Admission to the limited number of seats in medical schools is very competitive.
Prepare Subjects for MCATSubject tests evaluate your knowledge in a subject. However; it does not base on a prescribed course outline.Chemistry Physics Biology
Scheduling for MCAT
Every provincial government has its own schedule for admission in MBBS or BDS Medical colleges. Admission test (MCAT) is associated with the admission process.
Almost all medical colleges and universities advertise their admissions in the month of June and complete the admission process up to the month of August. Medical Colleges in Pakistan
Registeration for MCAT (Applying Medical Institutions)
Registration of  MCAT is not independent or separate from the admission process of the medical colleges or universities. Admission is advertised by the institutions in renowned news papers.
Application package (form) will be made available in the designated branches of some banks. Sometimes; the admission package will be available only from the admission office of the institutions.
Registration Fee
Application processing fee includes the MCAT fee as well. Application processing fee ranges from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1500.
MCAT score and Merit Lists
Evaluation of the applicant's suitability for the medical admission by the medical colleges and universities is not based only on the MCAT score rather it is a mix of applicant's previous academic performance and MCAT score.
Maximum score of MCAT varies considerably institution to institution, ranging from 100 to 400 points.
Merit Lists
A few weeks after MCAT, a consolidated merit list is displayed for selected candidates. However; some private institutions send acceptance letters to the selected candidates.
Required Score
Although individual medical schools vary with respects to the score they require, a standard score of 950 (with FSc first year score of at least 480 ) or greater will probably considered to be quite competitive.
The MCAT, in combination with college grade (FSc marks) is used as a screening device. The test is an objective measure and high scores will help an individual with average grades. Average or slightly lower MCAT scores probably do not significantly affect a superior college record.
At the Test Cente
rWhen you are taking tests, try to pace yourself to allow completion of each section within the allowed time. If it is necessary to omit some questions because of time limitation, you may wish to go back after you have scored the test and try to answer them without pressure of time limit.
